A Day in Peggy's Cove

Before you go, checkout this link to see a live camera of the lighthouse and the rocks! You can also shuffle through the cameras - placed all throughout Nova Scotia!

When visiting Peggy’s Cove, the first thing that comes to mind is the lighthouse, of course! However, there is plenty more to do than that! We’ve compiled our favorite stops and must-sees when visiting the area below. Now all you have to do is drive!

Peggy's Cove Lighthouse, Peggys Point Rd, Peggys Cove, NS B3Z 3S1

Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse

Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse, or Peggy’s Point Lighthouse, is easily the most recognizable lighthouse in Nova Scotia, and possibly the most photographed one in Canada! Built in 1915, this lighthouse has gone under recent renovations to help make viewing this picturesque view more accessible for all, including a viewing deck featuring long shallow ramps, landing spaces, handrails, and lighting strips. Spend the day rock jumping, enjoying a picnic or taking in the sights - just stay off the black rocks!

William E. deGarthe Memorial Monument

Over 100 feet long, this granite carving by William E. deGarthe shows 32 fishermen, their wives and children, St. Elmo with wings spread, and the legendary Peggy of Peggy’s Cove. Since 1926 visitors have visited this century-old carving while exploring the town. Just across from the Visitor Information Centre Parking Lot, this is the perfect first stop when walking to the lighthouse. There is a William deGarthe Art Gallery as well, that is open seasonally, just down the road, whereas the carving is available year-around.
