Progress Happens When Industries Work Together: Why We’re Proud to Support STRANS

Progress rarely happens in isolation. It comes from collaboration, shared goals, and leadership across an entire industry.

That’s why Over Sea is proud to stand at the forefront as the first Sustaining Business Partner of the newly formed Short Term Rental Association Nova Scotia (STRANS) - an organization that has already grown to represent more than 800 members province-wide.

This is a milestone moment for short-term rentals in our region. For the first time, operators have a unified voice advocating for sustainability, responsible tourism, and fair policy that works for both communities and local hosts.

Why This Matters

Since 2018, Over Sea has been deeply involved in advocating for responsible and community-minded hosting. We’ve collaborated with municipalities, housing advocates, and industry partners to encourage thoughtful regulation that protects neighbourhoods while preserving the economic and cultural value that short-term rentals bring to Nova Scotia.

To us, supporting STRANS isn’t a new direction - it’s a continuation of the work we’ve been doing for years.

A Mission That Aligns With Our Values

STRANS exists to support a balanced, professional, and sustainable short-term rental industry. Their focus is clear:

Responsible hosting practices
Fair and balanced regulation
Sustainability and community harmony
Education and training for operators

These are the principles that will define the future of short-term rentals - not only in Nova Scotia, but across Canada.

When hosts succeed responsibly, neighbourhoods benefit.
When regulations are fair and consistent, communities feel respected.
When operators are educated and supported, tourism thrives.

Everyone wins.

Building a Stronger Future Through Collaboration

The short-term rental industry touches homeowners, guests, nearby residents, small businesses, municipalities, tourism operators, and local economies. With so many interests at the table, real progress only happens when the entire industry moves together.

By supporting STRANS, we’re investing in:

✔ Higher industry standards
✔ Stronger community relations
✔ Clearer communication with government
✔ Better resources for hosts
✔ A more resilient tourism economy

Most importantly, we’re helping shift the conversation from conflict to collaboration.

Our Commitment Moving Forward

As the first Sustaining Business Partner, Over Sea is committed to supporting STRANS as it grows, educates, and advocates on behalf of operators across the province.

We’re excited about what comes next - and proud to help drive this organization’s momentum.
